NorthWestern Energy issues RFP for short-term capacity in Montana

Butte, Mont. – June 26, 2020 – NorthWestern Corporation d/b/a NorthWestern Energy has issued a Short Term Capacity Request for Proposals today, to seek to purchase capacity and energy beginning in the summer or fall of 2020 from resources that are currently in operation and capable of providing the capacity and energy products.
It is NorthWestern Energy’s intent to purchase the products during certain months for a period spanning anywhere between one and three years. This RFP is being conducted by NorthWestern Energy’s regulated energy supply function for use in serving its regulated customers in Montana whose load is located on the NorthWestern Energy Balancing Authority.
It is NorthWestern Energy’s intent to purchase a minimum of 25 MW and a maximum of 300 MW of capacity and energy.
Proposals are due on July 24, 2020, with final selections expected Aug. 28, 2020.
